Aotea Beach Hideaway

(somewhere to hide from stress)

Aotea Beach Hideaway doesn’t offer you luxury accommodation, we simply offer basic accommodation, a friendly place to relax and unwind, to sunbathe, to have fun, get away from it all or join us at the local club for a quiet drink with the local characters.  We are both cigarette smokers,  this does not mean you cant visit if you don't smoke.  Its just something to bear in mind.

Heinz and Leigh also offer a unique service by way of Travel Companions.  You pay for the vehicle costs and a negotiable fee and they drive you through NZ, or any area you specifically wish.  Hence, you are free to look out the window and take in the view safely.  We drive on the left hand side of the road here, and sometimes tourists find themselves in difficult situations.

One of our favourite spots around the house is our spa.  Seats 8, squashed up!  It’s on our front deck protected in the main from prevailing winds, it is an enjoyable place to either start the day or end it, drink in hand.  After a spa, the deck lends itself perfectly to entertaining, happy hour being whenever the first person opens the bottle.

We have a 16 foot boat, in which we are happy to take travelers across the harbour to the sand dunes, and walk through the dunes to the open ocean, a favourite place of ours for scavenging, picnicking and sun bathing.  I have never seen anyone else there.

Aotea Harbour is an expansive harbour, with many nooks and crannies, all waiting to be explored.  Scallop beds to be found, whitebait to be caught, and fish of all shapes and sizes just hanging out to jump on your hook.

We also have a 4X4 bike, which we take up the beach on a daily basis.  Five minutes up the beach is naturist friendly area, if people do come up the beach they usually avoid other people.

Fifteen minutes up the beach is our hot water beach, a natural and sometimes too hot spring coming up through the sand at the low water line.  We take a shovel to dig a hole and wallow for a while.  This activity is its best on a summer night, with little or no wind blowing, a full moon, or not, a starry sky, or not.

Aotea Hideaway is a part of the nudist/naturist movement in New Zealand, we welcome nudists from around the world.  Nudism though is not a prerequisite.
